Retaining Walls — what it is

Most failed walls around here failed for the same two reasons: no compacted base and nowhere for water to go. Clay holds water, water pushes, and the wall bows out.

We dig a proper footing, compact gravel base, set the first course dead level, backfill with drainage stone and run pipe behind the wall. The part you can't see is the part you're paying for.

Walls are always quoted in person after we look at the grade and how water moves across your lot.

Questions about retaining walls

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall?

In Douglas County, short walls usually don't require one, but taller walls and anything structural typically do and may need an engineer's stamp. We'll tell you where your wall lands before we start.

How tall can you build?

We handle standard residential heights with geogrid reinforcement. Anything beyond that gets engineered drawings first — we won't stack it and hope.

Why do walls fail around here?

Water. Georgia clay holds it and the pressure pushes the wall out. Drainage stone and pipe behind the wall is non-negotiable on every job we build.
