Grass Height Management

Service

Grass height management in Douglasville, GA

Cut heights adjusted through the season for your grass type.

A shorter lawn is not automatically a better lawn. Cut too much off at once and the yard can look thin even when the mowing lines are straight. Grass height management means setting the mower for the turf and the season, then keeping the cut consistent. James is on every property, so changes in growth, shade and ground conditions are considered where they actually happen. We work toward a clean lawn that still has enough leaf to handle the weather, rather than chasing one deck setting across every yard.

How we do it

We look at the grass before choosing the cut. The deck height should suit the turf, not just the customer's last mower setting. We avoid removing more than about a third of the blade in one cut, especially when the lawn has grown longer between visits. Tight turns, slopes and uneven ground need care because the deck can cut lower there. If your preferred finish would stress the lawn, James explains the tradeoff before changing the plan. Consistency is more useful than a dramatic cut followed by weeks of recovery.

Georgia grass & timing

Bermuda generally suits a lower, frequent cut while actively growing. Zoysia's dense canopy needs a sharp blade and a height matched to its condition. St. Augustine is maintained higher, with a clean cut that does not tear broad blades. Fescue stays taller during Georgia summer heat to shade the soil. Spring green-up, dry spells and autumn growth do not all call for the same approach. We adjust to the grass in front of us instead of lowering every lawn simply because the calendar has changed.

Pricing

Weekly mowing starts at $50 per visit for lawns up to 9,000 sq ft. Larger lawns are priced by lawn area. Bi-weekly service costs 30% more per visit because each cut removes about two weeks of growth. The regular visit includes mowing, string trimming, edging and blowdown. James reviews every quote before service is agreed, and no payment is taken through the quote form.

FAQs

Do all grass types get the same cut height?

No. Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine and Fescue need different approaches. We set the cut for the grass and its seasonal condition.

Can I discuss my preferred lawn height?

Yes. Tell James the finish you want. He reviews whether it suits the grass before agreeing to a change.

Is height management a separate mowing charge?

The correct grass height is part of the regular mowing visit. Weekly mowing starts at $50 per visit for lawns up to 9,000 sq ft; larger lawns are priced by area. Bi-weekly visits cost 30% more.
